Double Page Spread Analysis

This is my second redraft on my music magazine front cover. I took on all of the feedback that I was given from my 1st draft. I added a strapline mentioning the indie rock band Kings Of Leon so the audience will know what genre my magazine is. I added a photograph of from a concert underneath the headline 'Leeds Fest 2013' and lastly I changed the colour of some of my text so it was easier to read but also I added shadows and more effects to some of the text so it doesn't look plain and stuck to the page.

Contents Page Photos

1st Contents Page Draft

This is my first draft on my contents page. What I am happy with on this draft is the fonts that I have used. I think that they really suit the rock genre and look very professional. I also really like the layout of my magazine, which was inspired by one of Q Magazines contents pages. One negative about this draft is that I don't think it is colourful enough, and it looks a bit bland and boring. Also, It looks slightly bare. For my next contents page draft I am going to add more images onto the page with more feautures. The feedback that I got from my teacher is that I should add page numbers, and maybe possibly fit in a web address. Also that there needs to be more clear reference to the genre, so to do this I could add a competition to win tickets or something that relates to my genre such as a guitar, Leeds Festival tickets, a drum set etc.

Feedback On First Front Cover Draft

The feedback suggestions: - Some of the text is hard to read against the background, I can improve this by choosing better colours for the text. - Use a strapline to identify what the genre of your music magazine is. - Include a few inset images

This is a mood board of different contents pages that I have been looking at. They are from a variety of different magazines as I wanted to look at different varieties of each contents page and their stereotypes. Most contents pages have a similar layout, with whites and blacks and one other colour which is usally a colour that suits the genre of their magazine for example, the magazine Glamour, had white, black and oranges on the contents page which connotes vibrance and happiness, relating to a girls magazine. And the Q magazine has a colour layout of white, black and reds which is teh usual colour for magazines and red can conote danger which is usually related with the rock music. The layout that i like the most is the Q magazine contents page and NME magazines contents pages.
